As it always is when meeting new people, you ask a million questions about their life, business and of course their dreams! Here are a few of the questions we asked The Grand Living.
Who, when and how was The Grand Living created?
After leaving the field of Chemical Engineering for an opportunity to pursue other interests in Singapore, my love for design and beautiful furniture became a hobby in my spare time. I imported and successfully supplied the expat community with a range of selected pieces from various international suppliers. This eventually branched out into a local enterprise on my return to home soil. We have been very fortunate with the response to our unique and versatile bespoke furniture.
What are your aspirations for the brand?
Our aspirations for The Grand Living are luxury, high quality and a wide scope of unique furniture pieces. It is very fulfilling to inspire and give a client anything their heart desires, when they are faced with limited options in the retail market.
How do you define success and how does The Grand Living measure up to your own definition?
Hard work, excellence and adaptability are how we as a team define success. Reading the trends in the market while maintaining quality and longevity in our pieces of furniture is how we are measuring up to our definition of success. Our clients invest in our skills and we will always endeavor to master our work for them.
What piece in your portfolio are you most proud of?
I would be lying if I said that one specific piece is at the top of our list. More so, I am proud of the fact that we spend the time and have the skills in developing the item you can’t find anywhere else.
Why have you decided to join The Avenues family?
Somerset West is simply beautiful. It’s central, nestled between mountains and the ocean and of course it’s close to the Winelands and other major metropolitan areas. Somerset West is long overdue a facelift and the with the current trend of moving away from shopping areas to street side living in full swing we picked The Avenues. It’s the prime location and we feel we can contribute to the transformation of this wonderful town.
And finally, what is the most important thing in your life?
That’s a tough one, I would say maintaining a balance while still having the joy of seeing the delight in someone’s eyes when you dazzle them with their hearts desires.
